POETRY COMPETITION 2010

As part of the Festival we will be holding a Poetry Competition with three different age categories:

  CATEGORY A: 7 - 11 years
  CATEGORY B: 12 - 17 years
  CATEGORY C: 18 and above

There will be three prizes in each category, the prizes  in the form of Book Tokens to the values of:

  First Prize £20
  Second Prize £15
  Third Prize £10

The winners will receive their prizes at a Special Event on the afternoon of Saturday 10th July which will close that day's proceedings. This event will be hosted by BBC Radio Cumbria's Gordon Swindlehurst. The winning poems will be recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio Cumbria.

The three judges for the competition will be acclaimed poets Mary Robinson and Andrew Forster (from the Wordsworth Trust), and Jim Eldridge, now an award winning author and scriptwriter, and formerly a performance poet.
