HAPPY HOUR THEATRE COMPANY

 Holding by Ruth E Cockburn

Krisi has worked for the Civil Service for 15 years but when Lynda turns up her life takes an interesting twist......................

This adult comedy, set in a call centre, makes us realise that there is more to life than schedules, statistics and promotion!

Langholm based writer, Ruth E Cockburn began her career as an actor but soon realised writing was more her cup of tea. She does, however, perform her own material in stand-up comedy in venues throughout the UK.

She wrote her first play Finding Scobby Doo when still at University which she followed with Why Won't You? for the Lost Theatre Company in London. She wrote and performed Saturday Boy in venues as diverse as Gilnockie Hall and the Edinburgh and Buxton Fringes. The play has also been performed at The Short and Sweet Festival in Sydney and the rights have been bought by the BBC with a view to future screening.

Jenny Pike, Rob Graham and Bob McLure, three experienced amateur actors, along with former professional actress Allison Rowe, formed the Happy Hour Theatre Company with the aim of bringing theatre to a wider audience by performing in more relaxed settings such as pubs and village halls as well as in conventional theatres.

The company's debut was the the Bowness-on-Solway Literary Festival in June 2008.  Since then they have performed:

Deckchairs by Jean McConnachie
Weekend Breaks by John Godber
A Comedy Trifle - comprising two short comic plays by Nick Warburton and one by Deidre Kinahan
Salt of the Earth by John Godber (in conjunction with Carlisle Green Room Club)
