DENIS PERRIAM

"The Rise of Port Carlisle and Silloth"

Denis Perriam was born in Carlisle and began his working life in museums - first in Carlisle and then Beamish.

In 1982 he became Historic Buildings Inspector for Cumbria County Council. Form 1987 he has been a freelance historian, lecturing, writing and researching.

Author of a number of local history books on Cumbria and a contributor to other publications, he also writes a regular column for the Cumberland News.
